Marmot Point – Rocky Mountain National Park

Short but Steep

Theresa starts the short but steep climb up to Marmot Point at 12 thousand feet above sea level.

Above Alpine Visitors Center

Marmot Point is a tundra bump above the Alpine Visitor’s Center.

Nearly Blown off the Mountain

A constant strong wind buffeted us on this exposed bald.  But the terrific view of Rocky Mountain’s tundra more than made up for it, and it’s always fun to break the 12K level.  This was our first day and we could feel the altitude, but we took it easy to adjust to the thin air.
