Mills Lake – Rocky Mountain National Park

Prettiest Lake in the Park

Mills Lake is arguably the prettiest lake in Rocky Mountain NP.  Mills Lake sits in a wide U-shaped valley carved over time by multiple glaciers.

Great View of Longs Peak

Mills Lake is anchored with a great view of (left-to-right) Longs Peak, Keyboard of the Winds, Pagoda Mountain, Chiefs Head, and McHenrys Peak.

Glowing at Sunset

The mountains catch the remaining sun of the day.

Good Fishin’

Supposedly the fishing is quite good in Mills Lake, with native Greenback cutthroat trout being the prized catch (and release).

Stream Above Mills Lake

The hike up to Black Lake along the stream that feeds Mills Lake has pretty mountain views the whole way.
