Rocky Mountain National Park is the highest national park in the United States and provides a true alpine experience with its soaring peaks, open tundra, broad valleys, deep forests, and many small glaciers.
Rocky Mountain National Park was established in 1915 and preserves 265,770 acres of wooded forests and mountain tundra. The Continental Divide runs through the park, creating distinct east and west sides. The east side of the park is drier, with glaciated peaks and cirques. The west side is wetter and more lush, with dense forests. The park contains 360 miles of trails, 147 lakes, and 450 miles of rivers and streams. The park contains 72 named peaks higher than 12,000 feet elevation. Nearly one-third of the Rocky Mountain NP resides above tree line.

We visited Rocky Mountain NP in September 2008. We spent six days hiking in the park, and stayed in a cabin just outside Rocky Mountain NP in the nice town of Estes Park. Following is a photo tour of our trip to Rocky Mountain National Park.

Spectacular – thanks for sharing. I’m totally jealous. I can’t believe how breathtaking and relaxing it is even via the internet. I can’t imagine how beautiful it is to actually be there.
