Swiftcurrent Trail – Glacier National Park

Swiftcurrent Trail is a great hike along a series of glacial lakes. Here is Redrock Lake, which is fed by a series of cascading waterfalls.

Redrock Falls

Redrock Falls is actually a series of cascading waterfall "steps" that are low enough to climb the entire way up.

Bullhead Lake

We climbed 600 feet out of the valley to a terrific lunch spot overlooking Bullhead Lake.

Swiftcurrent Pass Waterfalls

After lunch we decided to hike the thigh-burning trail up to Swiftcurrent Pass. We are essentially climbing out of a steep bowl ringed with giant waterfalls like the one behind Theresa. Gaining over 1,000 feet elevation per mile, it’s one of the more challenging hikes in the park.

High Above Bullhead Lake

Bullhead Lake rests far below Timm and Theresa, with Mount Wilbur on the left and Grinnell Mountain on the right.
